Infinitive merupakan jenis verba yang pada umumnya strukturnya tersusun dari  affix –to dan kata kerja basic/dasar ( To infinitive ) . Infinitive tidak selalu diikuti oleh –to tetapi juga dapat berupa kata kerja dasar yang tidak mengalami infleksi ( bare infinitive).  Infinitive dapat berfungsi sebagai subyek, obyek langsung, pelengkap subyek , kata sifat dan ataupun keterangan dalam kalimat.

Fungsi dari infinitive  

1. Untuk menjabarkan tujuan dari sebuah tindakan yang dilakukan ( the purpose of an action )

2. Digunakan sebagai subyek dalam kalimat
