Passive voice adalah grammatical voice di mana subyek kalimat merupakan patient/recipient atau penderita/penerima aksi dan bukan agent atau pelaku aksi.

Contoh:

Active voice ⇝The lion eats the deer. / Singa memakan rusa.

Passive voice ⇝ The deer is eaten by the lion. / Rusa dimakan oleh singa.

  • The lion / Singa ⇉agent (pelaku)
  • The deer / Rusa ⇉patient (penderita)
  • eat / makan ⇉ action (aksi)

Action atau aksi dalam passive voice dinyatakan dengan menggunakan pola

be + past : participle : (v frac{}{3} )

Be akan terkonjugasi sesuai dengan tense kalimat.

Konjugasi be:

  • present simple ➠ am/is/are
  • past simple ➠ was/were
  • present perfect ➠ have/has been
  • past perfect ➠ had been
  • progressive ➠ being
