Dragonflies are classified as carnivores. They usually eat mosquitoes, moths, ants, termites, bees, butterflies, and flies.

Dragonflies also eat larvae, tadpoles and small fish. The nymph nymph (the first stage after hatching) likes to eat mosquitoes.

Adult dragonflies can eat around 50 mosquitoes in a day while flying so that they act as biological mosquito controllers..

A dragonfly is an insect belonging to the 'Odonata' sequence. Capunga is not really flying even though they both have six legs and three parts of the body, head, chest and abdomen. The main difference between them is that flies only have two wings while dragonflies have four wings. Dragonflies are sometimes confused with Damselflies. Even though they are both members of the same order, they have little difference where when resting, damselflies hold their wings together, dragonflies hold their wings horizontally or slightly down and forward and their hindwings are wider near the base. The eyes in a damselfly are separated, in part the dragonfly touches. However, being in the same position makes their life cycle very similar. The names of dragonflies come from their fierce jaws, which they use to catch their prey.
