Hot water will be poured into a glass, the glass is in normal condition (aka not hot / cold).
When the water is poured, the glass inside becomes instantly hot (because it absorbs heat), while the outside of the glass remains cold.
Because the glass inside is hot, it immediately expands, while the outside remains in its original condition.
Conditions that make broken glass poured hot water.
