Pada passive voice, subjek kalimat adalah patient (penderita) yang menerima aksi yang dinyatakan oleh kata kerja.
Konstruksi umum passive voice adalah:

Contoh: The book is read ～ Buku dibaca.
Dalam active voice, subjek kalimat adalah agent (pelaku) aksi.

Jika kalimat passive di atas diubah ke kalimat active dengan tense yang sama (present perfect), maka kalimatnya menjadi:
