1. Noun Phrase adalah penggabungan noun (kata benda) dengan satu atau lebih modifier. Noun bertindak sebagai head. Modifier bisa berupa determiner (a, an, the, dll), adjective (small, big, lazy, dll), adverb (very, too, so, dll).
Contoh Noun phrase:
• The beautiful lady –> The: determiner, beautiful: adjective, lady: noun.
• A big mango
• That lazy child
• Those dirty shoes
• A funny story

2. Verb Phrase adalah sekelompok kata yang terdiri dari sebuah main verb (kata kerja utama) dan sebuah auxiliary (kata kerja bantu).
Contoh Verb Phrase:
• Can play –> Can: auxiliary, Play: Main verb
• Will stay
• are singing
• is waiting
• may sit
• must do
• should talk
3. Prepositional Phrase adalah penggabungan antara preposition (kata depan) dengan object of preposition (noun, pronoun, gerund)
Contoh Prepositional Phrase:
• At school
• In front of your house
• beside me
• in the mall
• during the storm
• between my father and my mother
• under my control
4. Adjective Phrase adalah penggabungan antara adjective dengan modifier, determiner, dan/atau qualifier/intensifier.
Contoh Adjective Phrase:
• Very hard
• So bad
• Partially complete
• angry with my cousin
• fond of those things
5. Adverbial Phrase adalah penggabungan adverb dengan qualifier (too, very, enough, so, dll) atau kelompok kata seperti prepositional phrase atau infinitive phrase yang berperan sebagai adverb.
Contoh Adverbial Phrase:
• very well
• extremely slowly
• too quickly
• very hardly
• so beautifully
