I woke up late yesterday. When I was cooking breakfast, I burned the egg. I didn't have breakfast. When I was walking to school, it started to rain and I didn't bring an umbrella. So I arrived at school wet and hungry. It was such a bad day.

Simple Past :

(+) S + Verb 2

(-) S + didn't + Verb 1

Past Continuous :

S + to be + V-ing
